Overcoming Desires And Feeling Motivated When You Don’t Want To Do Anything
Desire – A word which has many meanings to it like attachments, love, lust, greed, food, gadgets and the list won’t end.
Can having a desire be a bad thing and when they aren’t fulfilled then, in that case having a feeling of demotivation is also quite normal?
Actually, it is a debatable question as for some it is and for some, it is not.
Let’s try and understand this with a simple story of a child.
Vivek was a 10-year old child studying in 5th standard.
He had a knack for ice creams. All he wanted when the day ended was ice cream to satisfy himself and sort of pat himself on the back to have gone through a rigorous schedule of studying, schooling and doing a bunch of other activities as well.
He rightly deserved it. It was his source of motivation.
But what if Vivek said that only he and he should have access to ice creams in the entire world. And no one else.
Now that wouldn’t be a cool thing. Isn’t it so?
The point here is to differentiate between your desires and see if they are practical or not. And is it really necessary to overcome desires?
Because in the long run, it is the desire of achieving new heights and success that helps an individual to achieve them in the first place.
But what if we aren’t able to get what we had decided for ourselves. Feeling demotivated and depressed in that state becomes a natural thing for us as said earlier.
