We all want to improve our lives, right? But there can be certain phases when we might experience mental blockages of some kind. These mental blockages can really make tough for us to live our lives to our fullest possibilities.
Things like anxiety, depression and fear can and do creep in even though we don’t really want them to. There is nothing new about it and a lot of people go through them on a daily basis. But most of the times, it has been seen that these things can make our lives a living hell.
So, is there any way we can improve ourselves mentally so that we don’t have to deal with such crap psychologically?

Being Positive – The same old crap for improving mental health
Research proves that positive affirmations do help in removing mental clutter and mental negativity from our lives. For this, it is important to promote feelings of self-worth and personal power. For example:
Don’t say things like ‘I won’t be able to do it’
Rather believe that ‘you can’
The cure to remove negativity from life lies in believing what you do.
Start writing – Like preparing a journal or something like that
Writing is another interesting way to channel out negative things like anxiety and fear from your life. And the result is a healthy and clutter-free peaceful mind.
I am not telling you to write down huge chunks of philosophy in your diary.
Yes, you can always start small, EVEN a line or two will do for starting out. The idea here is to pen down your thoughts and then ponder upon them. Contemplate. Think. Learn to distance yourself from external situations. And let the feeling of that little freedom stay within.

Learn to FOCUS on one thing AND only ONE thing
Do you remember the scene from THE LION KING where Rafiki hits Simba on the head and then asks after 10 seconds or so that it hurts or not.
And Simba acknowledges that although he was hit some 10 seconds ago but could still experience the pain in the PRESENT moment.
I adore that scene as it displays life in its essence. So, whenever you are doing anything be it writing, listening to music, or tasting the food. Just do that and try to be as involved as you can be. However easy it may sound, but it isn’t that easy.
Exercise a lot – Not a hidden technique for improving mental health
If you didn’t know then, you must know that your body releases stress-relieving and mind boosting endorphins before and after an exercise session. This further helps you in managing stress, anxiety as well as depression.
A good way to cope with mental health issues isn’t it? I will again say start with small and maybe commence exercising for about 10 minutes on a daily basis.
Some of the easy and helpful exercises for small-time duration are:
- Bent knee-push ups
- Squat jumps
- Single leg stand
The idea here is to look for and find small ways to add activity to your daily schedule.
Eating healthy – A good meal is the key to improve mental health
We all know that what we eat helps our body take nourishment from. Thus, as we must focus on eating a balanced diet. It’s the same old school stuff but at the same time, it is also very workable.
Some important food items to include in your diet are:
- Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids
- Green vegetables
- Fish if you prefer non-vegetarian food
Confide in someone whom you love and respect
Getting value from people who you adore can help you slip into a blissful state of mind. It helps you become better from the inside out. Being in such a situation where you can get mentally naked in front of someone and still be comfortable is no less than a blessing.
Do something for someone else
Being helpful to people will, in turn, help you feel really good about yourself. When you know that you were of some help to others is quite fantastic. It is a very good way to build self-esteem.
Don’t burnout. Rather take the whole process of whatever you are doing slow
Because if you have a burnout then, at times it can even take months for you to recover. Trust me it has happened to me. And it’s not easy to spring back up. So, in order to function properly, you need to step away from your work-time to time.
Learn to maintain a certain frequency about life, love and work. Learn to balance things. Keep things simple. Be brave and live to your best possibilities.
The best method to deal with mental health issues is to sleep on time
Yes, sleep deprivation can lead to a whole lot of negative effects on your mood. So, the better you sleep the better your life will be in each and every aspect.
